Tube Bending Essentials
This course teaches the fundamentals of hand tube bending to minimize mechanical connections, reducing potential leak points in fluid systems. Participants will use the Swagelok® Hand Tube Bender to complete 45°, 90°, and 180° bends on various planes and using offset calculations. They will also measure and bend tubing to fit enclosures with internal and external tubing runs.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Explain the basic concepts of the theory and practice of tube bending
- Practice the measure-bend method through a variety of hands-on exercises using the Swagelok hand tube bender
- Demonstrate essential tube bending concepts necessary to complete quality 45, 90, 180 degree and offset bends
Attendees Will Learn
- How to use the "measure-bend method" through hands-on exercises using the Swagelok Hand Tube Bender
- Demonstrate tube bending concepts to complete quality 45°, 90°, 180° and offset bends
- Identify common tube bend defects
Hands-On Exercises
Each attendee will complete the Final Practical Bend Exam — Students will start with the demo box in figure. 1 and learn how to make the necessary bends to complete demo shown in figure 2!
Target Audience
This course is designed for individuals responsible for designing, assembling, or maintaining fluid systems including technicians, engineers, and maintenance personnel who are looking to enhance their skills in tube bending.
